Dr. Jenna Calton has been working with children and families since 2012. Known for her warmth and thoughtful approach, she is deeply committed to evidence-based care. Dr. Calton primarily works with children, teens, and their caregivers using parent-based treatment programs and cognitive behavioral therapy to address depression, anxiety, OCD, autism, and behavioral challenges in young people.

Dr. Calton specializes in trauma-focused and trauma-informed care and has extensive experience supporting children and adolescents who have experienced traumatic, upsetting, or confusing events. She also has particular expertise in working with very young children and their parents to strengthen parent–child relationships and address emotional and behavioral challenges. Her work often incorporates live parent coaching, helping caregivers build the skills needed to support their child’s development and emotional regulation.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Calton has served as the Psychology Internship Program Director at a Child Advocacy Center and as an adjunct professor and clinical supervisor at George Mason University’s Center for Psychological Services. She regularly provides training, supervision, and consultation to mental health professionals and trainees on evidence-based and trauma-focused treatment approaches.

Dr. Calton also works within the forensic psychology setting, conducting psychological assessments and performing record reviews related to child and adult trauma. Her forensic work includes cases involving abuse, sexual assault, interpersonal violence, problematic sexual behaviors, and medical trauma.

Dr. Calton is certified in Parent–Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and PCIT-Toddlers. She has also been trained to fidelity in several treatment protocols, including the Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM) Protocol, Alternatives for Families Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT), and Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI). In addition, she has specialty training in the Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) program and Problematic Sexual Behaviors Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT).
