Renee DeBoard-Lucas, PhD

Dr. Renee DeBoard-Lucas is a licensed psychologist with more than 15 years of experience treating trauma and anxiety in children and adolescents. She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Marquette University and completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship before serving as a staff psychologist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Dr. DeBoard-Lucas later served as a staff psychologist at the Tree House Child Advocacy Center, where she worked closely with children and adolescents who had experienced traumatic events. In addition to providing treatment, she supervised doctoral interns and oversaw the center’s assessment program.

She is nationally certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and also has experience with Parent–Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy.

Dr. DeBoard-Lucas has authored peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters focused on children’s experiences with trauma. Her research interests include children’s perceptions of intimate partner violence and family conflict, as well as resilience in the context of these stressors.

In addition to her clinical work, she has served as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Counseling, Higher Education, and Special Education at the University of Maryland.
